How it works

Simple, direct, and without bureaucracy.

1

A neighbor calls. Anyone in the Lindale ISD area can call our help line at 903-590-7609. No referral is needed.

2

We visit. Vincentians meet with the family in their home to understand the situation and build a personal relationship.

3

We pay directly. Payments go straight to the landlord, utility company, or service provider. We do not hand out cash.

4

We serve anyone. We help every person who calls, regardless of faith, background, or circumstance.

St. Vincent de Paul

Why we do this

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, a twenty-year-old law student who answered the challenge to stop talking about helping the poor and go meet them. Nearly two centuries later, more than 800,000 Vincentians in 150 countries continue that work, house by house, family by family.

The St. Anthony Conference serves the Lindale, TX area from Holy Family Catholic Church. Our work has grown remarkably over the past several years, as more neighbors in Lindale ISD have called our help line and more families have lined up for Feed the Need each month. More than 20 active Vincentians volunteer here. We meet the first and third Tuesday of each month to pray, to plan, and to check in on the neighbors we are walking with. No one in the Conference is paid.

“Charity is the cement which binds Communities to God and persons to one another.”— St. Vincent de Paul
